When I try to launch the game using itch, the game crashes. When I launch the game from the EX launcher in the folder, my game saves are gone. Is this normal?

I tried the demo of the game and realized that the text cannot be skipped except by manual clicking or auto forward which was too fast. Is there an option to allow for keyboard presses like spacebar to skip text?
